Tribute (4 bottles of Pale)
Manong Bobby says its age. Why some years ago it took litros and litros of espesyal boxed issue of Tanduay to bring on the same eager fondness for the world as did tonight’s four humble Pale Pilsens. We are older and our livers have been overworked…In the tradition of in vino veritas and honoring the sacrifice of our livers, a tribute is called for. The best of times, the worst of times. That honorable pocket of period in an obscure civics department where good was done (if you ask the perpetrators, “aye good!” they’ll say but best not to take their word for it). (And the drunken tirade continues:) No matta’ how miniscule in the computation of the universe it was good that time, I tell y’all. And I honor the few great men, not enough lauded and sadly shrouded with intrigue (they call it crab mentality but that’s rather unfair for the crabs who would actually hauled each other up); but (nonetheless) inspired a generation (a generation i tell y’all!!!) and a nit to make it a point to be there for first period class (hangover and all y’all). So here’s to you four: Albert, Edwin, Peter and Manong Bob of the Civics Department, for Sibika Rampa and the sense of excellence pulled out of hangover first period mornings, you brought out the best in the team (hehehe kita kita lang gud gihapon!) and best in your students (sniff sniff). It was the worst of times in some parts of life but the best of times in the classrooms (and Civics days or “day”). I thank you for putting up with shit and rehashed lesson plans *wink wink*…I bid you well in Baltimore, in New Mexico, in Japan, in the Bar exam (yes, you will make it, Albertus Magnus, I hail you after another magnus, great man). Come back from Baltimore, you lousy ass, and be all you can be yabang counsel of legal hogwash you. Raise your child bilingual, hairy ape. Blinders, tunnel vision if you must, for that friggin law degree, Albertus, then be confused after. Loose weight or wear a bra, Petey. And backpack over Asia; jiggy in Ankor and Taj! Your pictures will make the best class illustrations. Manong Bob, more beeeer! [Sierra Nevada is another good beer, overflowing in New Mexico, but I wish you no less than the best – Pale Pilsen kahit saan!]
Given another chance, I would honorably and happily rehash the same lesson plans with y’all!!!!! (Place group hug here) hik hik hik…!
